Overview

1.Preparing students with a strong foundation in Commerce, which is a great asset in qualifying for any specialized postgraduate course.
2.To provide adequate basic understanding about the trade, commerce, industry and other related services among the students.
3.Providing adequate basic understanding about Financial Accounting and Auditing & Marketing concepts to the students and giving them adequate exposure to the operational environment.
4.Creating an understanding of Business Economics and issues related to the Indian Economy.
5.Inculcating interactive training, and practical approach in students through tutorials, group discussions, projects, and using modern technology in teaching the students.
6.To prepare students to exploit opportunities being newly created in the field of commerce due to Globalization, Privatization and Liberalization.

Eligibility

1. Admission of First Year B.Com classes are offered following the declaration of result of HSC examination (STD XII) by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

2. Admission are granted as per the statutes and direction issued by the University of Mumbai from time to time.

3. Candidates who have passed the HSC examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education in Commerce and science stream are eligible for admission to F.Y.B.Com. Class.

4. All Admissions are provisional, subject to the approval of the University of Mumbai.

5. Students from other boards of Universities seeking admission to any of the classes in Degree College will be considered for admission only on production of a Provisional Eligibility Certificate issued by the Registrar, University of Mumbai. Admission will not be granted without the said certificate, under any circumstances. Such student should submit a Migration. Certificate, Statement of Marks and Passing Certificate in original within two months from the date of admission failing which their admission is liable to be cancelled.

6. Student from other colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai, who are seeking admission to Second and Third year of B.Com class will be admitted provisionally on production of 'No Objection Certificate' from the principal of the college last attended. Their admission will be conformed only on receipt of the transference Certificate (T.C.) from the previous college. For this purpose, they should submit an application from along with T.C. fee to the college at the time of admission.

7. The college is granted Minority Status under Article 30 (1) of the constitution of India by vide GR no. ASN 1099 / LANG /(278/99) / MASHI-3 dt. 1st Oct, 1999. As per the rule applicable to educational institution granted Minority States, not more than 50% seats will be allotted to candidates whose mother tongue is Tulu.

8. A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce(Accounting & Finance) must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XII) examination conducted by the different Divisional Boards of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education and secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate at first attempt(40% in case of reserved category).

Three Year Bachelor Of Commerce Degree Course ( B.Com. )

I.Introduction:

The Bachelor of Commerce is one of the traditional course. Students are given a wide range of subjects to choose. B.Com. Degree to equip the students to register to any specialized programme that would give them a competitive edge over others.

II.Objectives

1. The programme has designed to provide a broad foundation in the main functional areas of business.

2. It aims to provide an appropriate foundation for students to pursue their study for professional qualifications in Accountancy, Costing Management & Finance.

3. To equip the students with effective communication skills & shape themselves as responsible citizens.

4. To develop basic skills in specialized fields of Advertising, Computer Application etc.

5. Creating an understanding of Business Economics & issue related to the Indian Economy.

6. Giving a practical approach to the students through tutorials, group discussions, and projects & using modern technology in teaching the students.

First Year Bachelor of Commerce ( F.Y.B.Com.- Seven Papers )

I.Eligibility

a) Semester - I

A candidate is eligible for admission to the three year course leading to the Bachelor of Commerce must have been passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XII) Examination on conducted by the different division boards of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Examination.

OR

Must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XII) Examination on with vocational subjects /minimum competency based vocational courses conducted by the different boards of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary School.

OR

Must have an examination of another University or Body recognized as equivalent there to.

b) Semester – II

A Learner is eligible to be admitted to semester – II irrespective of number of heads of failure in the Semester – I

I.Eligibility

a) Semester – III

A learner being eligible for the admission to the S. Y. B. Com. Semester III must have either-passed in all the courses in Semester I and Semester II examinations.

OR

Should have failed in not more than four courses at Semester I & Semester II examinations taken together, with not more than two courses each at Semester I & Semester II examinations.

b)Semester – IV

A Learner shall be allowed to keep terms for Semester –IV irrespective of number of heads of failure in the Semester – III.

I.Eligibility

a) Semester – V

A learner being eligible for the admission to the Semester V must have either Passed in all the courses in Semester I , II, III and IV examinations.

OR

Passed Semester I & Semester II examinations but failed in not more than four courses at Semester III & Semester IV examinations taken together ,with not more than two courses each at Semester III & Semester IV examinations.

OR

Passed Semester III & Semester IV examinations but failed is not more than four courses at Semester I & Semester II examinations taken together with not more than two courses each at Semester I & Semester II examinations. Amended 8438e (for Faculty of Commerce & Faculty of Arts).

b) Semester VI

A learner shall be allowed to keep term & appear for Semester VI end examination irrespective of number of heads of failure in the Semester V. The result of Semester VI shall be kept in abeyance until the learner passes each of Semester I, Semester II, Semester III, and Semester IV & Semester V.

Scheme of Examination:

The performance of learner in all subject except skill enhancement course is evaluated on 100 marks in which 40% passing is there and in skill based enhancement course, The performance of the learners for some courses will be evaluated in two components. One component will be the Internal Assessment Component carrying 25% marks (40% passing) and the second component will be the Semester wise End Examination component carrying 75% marks (40% passing). Instructions in respect to allocation of marks for the Internal Assessment and Semester End Examinations will be given by respective subject teacher.
